COPYEDITING
Whereas line editing focuses on line-by-line edits, our editors use copyediting to focus on big-picture edits such as:
-
Spelling, Grammar, and Style - ensures spelling and grammar are correct and that the style of writing is consistent from beginning to end
-
Accuracy - includes fact-checking, ensuring the accuracy of each sentence, and checking that names and tables of contents are consistent
-
Structure - includes formatting and adjusting the organization of the narrative or story collections to better suit the work or to increase understanding for the reader
-
Logic - looks at the manuscript as a complete object and checks for inconsistencies at both the sentence and big-picture level
-
Elegance - ensures the words on the page are all intentionally chosen, are supporting the author's voice, and are consistent throughout the manuscript
